Career Exploration

Deciding on a potential career path can be rather stressful for students. It is important to remember that many postsecondary institutions offer comprehensive advising for students who begin undeclared. It is also important to remember that many students change their major during college, sometimes more than once. Students should be encouraged to explore career options that interest them.

My Academic Plan is North Scott's platform for student's individual and career academic plan. Students have an opportunity to explore various career clusters and map out their high school classes. Students create their My Academic Plan beginning in 8th grade and continue to review it throughout their high school career.

Here at North Scott High School we provide a variety of opportunities for students to explore potential careers. During their sophomore year they will attend a Career Expo to learn more about specific careers that match with their career cluster. Students also have opportunities to participate in work-based learning activities such as an apprenticeship, internship or job shadow. Check out the work-based learning page more information.

Career assessments are a great way to begin exploring career clusters and specific careers that match up with an individual's interests and strengths. Students continue to grow and change throughout their time in high school so it is important to take various assessments. Follow any of the links below to take your own individual assessment.
